The Takeru Higuchi Intersearch Programs

In addition to the Ph.D. degree earned solely at The University of Kansas, the basic science departments of the School of Pharmacy offer a joint program of graduate instruction leading to the Ph.D. degree with the Victorian College of Pharmacy in Melbourne, Australia. This program is known as The Takeru Higuchi Intersearch Program. Intersearch is a pharmacy graduate program conducted by The University of Kansas and the Victorian College of Pharmacy, Melbourne, Australia. The Ph.D. degree is a cooperative program with the Departments of Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacology and Toxicology, designed to teach methods of research and at the same time offer a broadening international experience. A joint degree is awarded under the names of both institutions. Graduates from this program will be trained in a manner suitable to the needs of the pharmaceutical industry and institutions of higher learning in both countries. This joint program will admit students from either institution to either campus. A further requirement is that each student entering the program must engage in studies for at least 12 months on each campus. Round-trip, tourist-class fares are provided for students admitted to the program, and additional financial support is generally available to them during the course of their studies.
