The objectives of the Clinical Drug Analysis of Anticancer Agents Pre- and Post-Doctoral Training Program are to train individuals previously awarded baccalaureate, master's or doctorate degrees in scientific disciplines as skilled scientists qualified to develop innovative and effective analytical methodologies for the quantitative determination of therapeutic levels of drugs and their transformation products in biologicals samples and aqueous solutions. Particular emphasis is placed on analysis of agents used in combating cancer because of the unique challenges associated with their analyses as well as the complimentary service function this effort would offer clinical and clinical oncologists and on investigation of fundamental chemical and physical processes of direct applicability to the development of analytical method of use in clinical monitoring of drug levels.

This program is an integral part of the University of Kansas's response to the need for bioanalytical chemists by the establishment of a joint chemistry pharmaceutical chemistry program of training. This program is facilitated by the existence of the Center for BioAnalytical research and the Higuchi Biosciences Center, which provides additional education and training opportunities in bioanalytical chemistry for students.
